Anaesthesia and Pain Department

Anaesthesia and Pain Department

  • At the Department of Critical Care and Anesthesiology we provide state-of-the-art anesthesia care, pain management and life support for patients in intensive care units
  • We provide comprehensive patient care starting with an initial evaluation in the Anesthesia Assessment Center. Patients undergo surgery in the operating room and receive care into the post anesthesia and intensive care units.
  • Anesthesiologists apply their knowledge of medicine to fulfil their primary role in the operating room, which is not only to ensure your comfort during surgery, but also to make informed medical decisions to protect you. These include treating and regulating changes in your critical life functions — breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, fluid balancing, and management of blood loss— as they are affected by the surgery being performed. Any problems with your lungs, heart, kidneys and other organs will be diagnosed and treated immediately by the anesthesiologist.
  • In the intensive care units, a team of critical care specialists, nurses and respiratory care practitioners provide state-of-the-art life supporting treatments.
